BEWARE! THIS IS NOT A FANTASY NOVEL!

If you like reading fictional historical medieval novels, this book and fantastic and you will love it. Buy it and read it. But, if you like FANTASY novels, you'd better stay away. Why?

1)There are only two actual fight scenes in the entire 864 page novel. No, I'm not kidding. Of course, one of the two is in the first chapter of the book, in order to get you to read further (hell, it worked on me, unfortunately).

2)There are no monsters or races other than humans in the entire book, other than a brief scene in the first chapter and a brief scene in the last chapter. Again, I'm being literal here. NO MONSTERS. NO OTHER HUMANOID RACES.

3) As has been stated in other reviews here, there is NO MAGIC. Yes, they talk about magic (even then, in only one or two scenes) , but you never see any.

Again, I'm not recommending against this book. The writing, plot, and characters are excellent. It's a great HISTORICAL FICTION novel, but it is NOT FANTASY. If you buy this book expecting fantasy, you're going to be really, really ticked off. I was.
